Hi everybody, this is Wayne’s daughter Allyson posting on behalf of Wayne and Karyn.
I have the immense honor of sharing before you today not just to mourn, but to celebrate the life of a man who was much more than just a father, a brother, a friend. My father, Wayne Obermann was a person who lived with strength, resilience, and a deep love for his family.
As the father of eight children, he showed us what it meant to fight for the people you love. Through everything life threw at him, including his battle with cancer-where he fought, and won-it was his heart that stood out the most. Not just the one beating in his chest, but the heart that kept him going, no matter how hard things got. Even when the cancer returned, he never gave up. He didn’t just fight for himself, he fought for all of us.
His strength wasn’t just in the way he fought his health battles, but in the way he lived his life. He was sober for a year and counting before his passing, a testament to his perseverance and his commitment to turning his life around. His journey wasn’t easy, but it was one filled with hope and determination.
Beyond the struggles and challenges, my dad had a passion for life. He loved to cook. It wasn’t just about the food—it was about the joy he found in bringing people together around a meal. He often talked about his dream of owning a food truck. Even in the toughest times, he could still picture himself serving up delicious meals to people, sharing the love he poured into everything he made. He had a gift in the kitchen, and I know many of us have fond memories of the meals he prepared with love.
But most of all, he was a man who loved us. He loved his family fiercely, and even when life became difficult, we could always count on him to show up. His legacy is one of courage, of perseverance, and of an unwavering love for the people closest to him.
Though he may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will live on in the lessons he taught us, in the stories we’ll continue to share, and in the strength he passed down to each of us. He was a father, a fighter, a dreamer, and a man who will always be remembered for the love and hope he brought into this world.
We’ll miss you, Dad, but we’ll keep your memory alive in every meal we cook, every dream we chase, and every moment we share as a family. Thank you for being the heart of our family. We love you, and we always will.
If you are able to donate to help with the costs of Wayne’s memorial services, please do! If you are unable please lift our family up in prayer during this difficult time.
With Love,
