On June 24, 2026, two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, devastating communities across La Guaira, Greater Caracas, and surrounding areas. For us, this is not a distant emergency.

The people affected are our players, our coaches, their families, and the communities where we have spent years teaching and playing tennis.

They are people we know by name.

Miguel, Frankie and Romel

Miguel Fernandez is a young tennis player from La Guaira. During the earthquake, Miguel jumped from a window to save his life. The fall fractured three vertebrae — L1, L2 and L3 — and he required surgery. Today, he is going through rehabilitation as he works toward walking normally again. Miguel also lost his home.

His recovery is therefore much bigger than a medical one. He needs support with rehabilitation, housing and the process of rebuilding his life after everything changed in a matter of minutes.

Frankie Mata is one of our coaches at TenniSapien's Altamira Tennis Club location.

During the earthquake, Frankie tragically lost both his mother and his father. He also lost the two homes where his parents lived, leaving him without a place to call home while dealing with an unimaginable personal loss.

Romel Caldera is a young player who grew up in one of the TenniSapien academies. His family lost their home in the earthquake. They do not have the financial resources to recover on their own, and Romel is currently living in a shelter.

One of our goals is simple: help his family rent a home, leave the shelter and begin rebuilding their lives.

Miguel, Frankie and Romel are three stories. There are more.

And because these are people within our own community, we are in a unique position to understand what happened to them, verify what they need and make sure the help reaches them.

That is why we created Rally x Venezuela

What is Rally x Venezuela?

Rally x Venezuela is an initiative led by ATP top 50 player Daniel Altmaier and TenniSapien, created to mobilize the international tennis community and turn solidarity into direct, responsible and verifiable assistance in Venezuela.

We know that we cannot solve the entire crisis. But we can help where we have relationships, local knowledge and a real ability to act.

For years, TenniSapien has worked with players, coaches, families, clubs, schools and nonprofit organizations throughout Venezuela. Today, that network has become a network of solidarity.

Your donation will allow us to expand what we are already doing.

1. Help people rebuild their lives

A significant part of the campaign will go toward specific, verified cases within our community. Depending on each person's circumstances, that may mean rehabilitation and medical support, temporary housing, rent, transportation, essential supplies or other urgent needs created by the earthquake. Every case is different.

Our responsibility is to understand the real need first and then direct the resources where they can make a meaningful difference.

2. Reach children and families beyond our immediate community

Our work does not stop with tennis players and coaches. We are also partnering with experienced nonprofit organizations to reach children and families who have lost their homes, been displaced or are currently living in shelters.

On July 25, together with Fe y Alegría, we organized a tennis day for 40 children affected by the disaster. These children had lost their homes and were living in shelters.

For a few hours, tennis gave them something completely different: a court to run on, people to play with, and a space away from what they had been experiencing.

Because in moments like these, sport cannot rebuild a house. But it can create a moment of normality, movement, connection and well-being for a child who has been through something no child should have to experience. And that matters too.

3. Eight months of action

We do not want Rally x Venezuela to be one donation followed by silence. We are working to organize eight community actions — one every month— designed to keep mobilizing our tennis community and extend the impact of the campaign.

These activities will include work with shelters and nonprofit organizations, collection campaigns, sports activities, preparation and distribution of essential supplies, educational sessions and other actions based on verified needs.

The July 25 event was the first example of what we want to continue building. Our goal is not simply to distribute aid.

It is to create a community that continues helping.

Servicio y Devolución: teaching young players to help

There is another part of Rally x Venezuela that is especially important to us. We believe tennis should not only help us develop better athletes. It should help us develop better people.

Through Servicio y Devolución, we are bringing young tennis players together for talks and supervised community activities led by psychologists, sociologists, rescuers and other specialists.

They learn about what happens after a disaster, what vulnerable communities actually need and what responsible help looks like. Then they participate.

They prepare supplies. They support community actions. They help organize activities. They bring the message back to their families, academies and clubs. The idea is simple: Help today, while teaching the next generation how to help tomorrow.

Young people can become multipliers of solidarity without ever being placed in unsafe situations.

The final distribution will depend on the amount raised and the needs identified throughout the project.

How we will manage the funds: Trust matters.

Every request for assistance will be reviewed, verified and documented. Whenever possible, payments will be made directly to medical providers, rehabilitation centers, pharmacies, landlords, transportation services, nonprofit organizations or other providers delivering the assistance.

We will publish periodic updates showing the progress of the campaign, including the amount distributed, the types of assistance provided, the number of people or institutions supported, our community actions and the remaining campaign balance.

At the same time, we will protect the dignity of every person we help. Transparency does not mean turning someone's tragedy into content.

Whenever we share photographs or personal stories, we will do so responsibly and with respect for the people involved.

Neither Daniel Altmaier, David Souto nor TenniSapien will receive any personal financial benefit from this campaign. TenniSapien will not charge administrative fees.

Only essential and documented expenses directly required to verify needs, transfer resources, deliver assistance and report the project may be covered.

Our goal: US$50,000

We know $50,000 will not rebuild everything that was lost. But for one family, it can mean leaving a shelter. For one coach, it can mean having a home again. For one young player, it can mean continuing rehabilitation.

For a group of children, it can mean one day in which they get to feel like children again. And if enough of us help, those individual steps can become something much bigger.
