Our beloved Uncle Lou, a pillar of the Mills 50 community, remains in immigration detention following a final order of removal.
Uncle Lou is not only a cherished family member and friend, but also someone who has spent years giving back to his community through his kindness, generosity, and dedication to those around him. This fundraiser was created by Alison, who has been a close friend of Uncle Lou for more than 18 years and has remained in direct communication with both Uncle Lou and his sister, Ginette, throughout this process.
Since this fundraiser was first created, Uncle Lou's immigration case has reached a final stage, and he is now facing deportation to Jamaica after decades in the United States. As a result, the purpose of this fundraiser has expanded beyond legal representation alone.
Funds raised will continue to be used to support Uncle Lou's immediate needs while in detention, including communication, personal necessities, and any remaining legal or administrative expenses. In addition, any remaining funds will be used to help Uncle Lou rebuild his life upon his return to Jamaica. This may include obtaining vital documents such as a birth certificate and identification, securing temporary housing, transportation, basic necessities, and other essential expenses associated with starting over from scratch in a country he has not called home for many years.
Uncle Lou's sister, Ginette, remains the beneficiary of this fundraiser and will receive all donated funds directly for his benefit.
While the outcome of his case is not what we had hoped for, our commitment to supporting Uncle Lou has not changed. Your generosity will help ensure that he has the resources needed to navigate this difficult transition and begin rebuilding his life with dignity and stability.
Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. If you are unable to contribute, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others.
Thank you for standing with Uncle Lou during this challenging time.
