Support – We need you!
The support has been amazing with prayers, visits, and words of encouragement. And we thank God for you. But we need continued financial support. My son, Tremaine Parham, will have the operation to have his right leg amputated the beginning of June. This is the leg used to drive, so consider transportation for him after months of therapy to adjust to this new way of life. AS you think of these needs, consider the thousands of dollars needed for the prosthetic leg. Any dollar amount and passing Tremaine’s story to your family and friends would be more appreciate than you can imagine.
2 Corinthians 9:11
“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
Tremaine’s Story
The Beginning:
“And he scored – two points!” His eyes scanned the crowd. His dark brown eyes glistened as he saw the smiles shown like stars in the sky. Happiness glared in my veins as I waved to him. My son – my superhero. He was in elementary school. Each step became no longer casual but lopsided as his body tried to adjust with his right leg barely able to keep up with the left leg.
The Journey:
This was the beginning of our journey. Therapy – then two surgeries – now years later each step became a negotiation rather than an order to move normally. Moving without pain, without aches, was just one thing he never took for granted. Today his knee feels as though it have been flash-burned with acid from the inside - just sufficient to make a move like the living cells have been replaced by aging rubber bands, thick and twisted inside of his knee cap.
Enough was enough as we sought further medical assistance. It was determined my son, Tremaine Parham, has soft-tissue sarcoma, a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the soft tissues of the body – and you guessed it – it is under his knee cap.
So chemo began February 17, 2018. The second round of chemo was the week of 3/13. On the 50th death anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, there was a summons of the doctors to discuss the enemy under his knee cap. The results were in and we were given the news. Every action the doctor took was precise and purposeful. The doctor had a genuine face as she gave us dreadful update of the chemo did not work.
The only solution: amputation of his leg.
We thank you again for all of your support.
It has been amazing as Tremaine’s spirits are good as he has faced this disease that has entered his body and claimed his right leg. In the book of John, chapter 14, verses 13-14 Jesus says, "I will do whatever you ask in my name so that the Son may bring glory to the Father." We are holding onto that promise that Jesus will give us the desires of our hearts. We thank Him for this journey as we witness what He has done and what He is about to do, for the medical staff at MD Anderson and the continuing support from you, your family and friends.
