At the end of June, Toni’s life took an unexpected and serious turn. She became very ill, and initial tests revealed that something was deeply wrong. Doctors suspected that two autoimmune diseases were attacking her liver, and further biopsies showed that her liver was in critical condition.
Toni was transferred and admitted to Mayo Clinic, where she started receiving intensive treatment. Her medical team worked diligently to stabilize her condition and prepare her for a liver transplant. Last week, Toni was finally given the green light—and miraculously, a donor liver became available quickly.
The transplant was successful, and so far, her body is accepting the new liver. After weeks apart, Toni was finally able to see her boys, Mason and Roy, bringing a much-needed moment of joy and hope.
Toni will remain at Mayo for at least another month as doctors monitor her recovery and adjust treatments. She is also facing an ongoing battle with a chronic autoimmune disease that the doctors are still trying to figure out. This disease could continue to affect her new liver and health and managing it will be a lifelong challenge.
During this time, Toni is unable to work, and Ryan has missed a significant amount of work to be by her side and care for their family. We’re asking for your support to help ease the stress of medical bills, travel, lodging, and lost income. Every donation, no matter the size, helps this loving family focus on what matters most—Toni’s healing and being together again.
Please consider donating and sharing this page. Let’s rally around Toni, Ryan, Mason, and Roy and show them they’re not alone in this fight.
We're also in the early stages of organizing an in-person benefit event if you'd prefer to support the family through that effort. More details to come soon!
Thank you for your kindness and support.
