Rally for Tim Rowe’s Recovery and Care

Donation protected
Our father, Timothy Rowe, was in a severe motorcycle accident on November 6th, 2024. He suffered a heavy brain bleed and hemorrhages to the left side of his brain. He also had a broken nose and sternum. He had several spots of stitches, multiple wounds and was heavily bruised on his face. His first three or four weeks were spent on artificial breathing support, where he also developed pneumonia twice during his stay where they also found a blood clot in his leg and they didn’t want it to move so they placed a screen to prevent it from moving.

So.. after he was stable that we thought we were on our way to recovery….

Then, after many weeks, they told us that he still had a significant amount of blood on his brain and that the best way to remove it was by craniotomy (brain surgery). We made the tough decision to do it in hopes it would help his cognition and help his aphasia from the TBI. Recovery has been tough, long, and a rollercoaster of emotions, we couldn’t have made it though the alone without the help of family and friends and all the ones who have checked in along the way.

Skip forward to now, Dad has been in rehab for a little over a week in Columbus OH, at Dodd Hall. He is strong but still has physical limitations on his right side, and has problems remembering and performing simple tasks. The doctors do not know how well he will recover mentally and physically. He suffers from severe aphasia and confusion, so he needs to be in someone’s care around the clock 24/7. It’s been hard for my brother (Timm) and myself (Kori). Neither of us have been able to work because Dad has required a lot considering his injuries and from what all he has been through. We can’t bare the thought of him being in the hospital with strangers, he’s not handling it well. We now have a plan in place for his long-term care; it will still be a few months to transition but we are trying to get things set in motion so we can go ahead and get started now. We will all be staying with Kori and his grandchildren working together as we get his house completed and repaired! Timm will start the due process to become care provider, he does really well with Dad and there are programs available to support them both, but this will all take time. We are asking for help to cover any transportation costs to and from rehab/appointments. We will also need ongoing medical and sanitary supplies like pads, “underwear,” wipes, and gloves. He will eventually go to his home to stay, but it is in need of some repair, which has the potential to be costly. We’ve done really, REALLY well to have managed to this point without asking for help, but it has taken a toll on us financially. Anything helps, and my father and our family deeply appreciate it. I believe we have found resources for his medical equipment, thankfully, but outside of that and everything considered we’re looking at potentially needing a few thousand if not more for costs and repair. Anything donated goes towards his care or what we require to care for him, and funds will be put into an account that is shared by both of his children. My Dad always put the needs of his children, grandchildren, family, and friends before his own, and we want to do the very best to provide and care for him as it is really a blessing to even be given the opportunity to. Thank you!
