My cousin Chance Wahl, his wife Emily, and their daughter Renée need our help.

With preemie Renée in the Ochsner Baptist NICU and mom Emily recently hospitalized for her own host of medical issues, they've now lost their home and everything in it to Hurricane Ida.

Born at just 26 weeks, Renée has been fighting like a trooper and has already undergone surgery for a pacemaker and to help correct her pulmonary hypertension. When she's released from the hospital in the coming months she'll require assistance and care that will far exceed what they've planned for and are able to afford.

Now they won’t have a home - let alone a nursery - to bring her back to.

We're trying to pull together some help to go beyond what the insurance will cover. Things like:

• additional medical care and assistance for Renée
• additional care for Emily
• lodging until their housing situation is sorted and so they can stay by the hospital near Renée
• household items both big and small that an insurance claim won’t cover (and that you don’t remember you lost until you need it)

A little of what we can all find to give will go a very long way - not just to provide the care but to show our support to a young family that has been blindsided one event after another.

It would mean so much to them.

Note: The beneficiary on this, Melissa Wahl Richoux, is Chance Wahl's older sister. The fundraiser is for he and his family, but given his situation he asked  that his sister help him to collect the funds.
