As many in our community know, Miss Anette and Romeo Thompson are the heart and soul behind "The Jamaican Spot" They have always poured love, warmth, and incredible food into our lives. Now, they are facing every parent's worst nightmare and need our community's support to get through it.

Recently, Miss Anette’s son was the victim of a horrific act of violence—he was set on fire. He is currently fighting for his life in a New Orleans hospital intensive care unit (ICU).

This is going to be an unimaginably long and difficult journey to recovery.

He remains on a ventilator in the ICU. Every time doctors attempt to remove it, his throat swells up, making it impossible for him to breathe on his own.

Compounding this tragedy, the family lost a week of precious time. Because he was unconscious and unable to speak upon arrival, he was initially admitted as unknown, leaving his mother unaware of where he was or what had happened to him for an entire week.

The Breakthrough: Miraculously, a week later, as his consciousness began to return just enough, he was able to use the phone buttons to help doctors dial and connect with his family.
