In 2014 at the age of 24, our good friend Paul was diagnosed with brain cancer. His friends and family rallied around him to show support and help him fund his battle he was beginning to embark on. Thank you to all who supported and remember this.
Paul has fought a challenging and impressive battle over the last 11 and a half years. We are sad and heartbroken to say his battle is coming to an end. Paul’s cancer has unfortunately spread to his brain stem and is not removable. Paul is currently in hospice surrounded by close family and friends.
We’d love to offer support to his family at this difficult time so we can make things most comfortable for Paul and Leah, and they can save for their son Camden’s future.
The Russos also hope to create a scholarship or donation to cancer research in Paul’s name.
Read on for a summary of Paul’s incredible battle:
Paul was diagnosed with brain cancer at 24 years old. A year of chemo treatment gave him 3 years of stable scans.
In early 2018, Paul was having symptoms of a change in the cancer growth. Doctors decided a resection was the best option. In April 2018, Paul underwent brain surgery with radiation and chemotherapy to follow.
In 2019, just 2 months after finishing chemo, Paul got to marry Leah and begin their family. They welcomed a beautiful son Camden in 2022.
In December of 2023, during a routine scan, doctors discovered new cancerous spots and began treatment again.
In April 2024, Paul underwent a second brain surgery to remove a new tumor. This again was followed by more radiation and chemotherapy.
Since then, Paul has been on different chemo treatments and newer FDA approved cancer fighting drugs to keep things stable. He has also continued to work, be a dad and husband through this entire time. Unbelievable.
Fast forward to March 2026, after years of battling treatment, Paul was diagnosed again with another tumor located on his brain stem. Sadly this has limited his ability to move his body, swallow, and speak. Paul has spent the last month in Boston receiving therapies and treatment.
Please consider supporting Paul and his family, as we all process this end of a beautiful life.
