2/29- **The Londons made is back to the US yesterday. Maddi was taken to the nearest hospital where the trauma team went to work immediately. They are anticipating surgery tomorrow followed by a few days of recovery before she can safely travel back home. They were able to speak with Anderson yesterday and he is so happy to see her! I’d like to extend gratitude on behalf of the London’s, the support has been overwhelming in all the best ways. They have a long road ahead of them, but they are a force of nature & will continue to overcome all obstacles.**

Please help the London’s! What was a dream vacation turned to a nightmare just hours before they were set to head back to New Jersey, where their 4 year old son was waiting to see his mom & dad. Maddi and Shaka spent months planning the most incredible time for her & friends to visit Puerto Vallarta, as a getaway and also as a celebration for Maddi on the horizon of completing her Master of Nursing degree. Maddi had been dreaming of riding horses on the beach the whole trip and her wish finally came true. As they were headed back, the man guiding the horses let go of the reigns without warning and the horses took off at full speed. Maddi was violently thrown off the back and tumbled multiple times into the ocean and Shaka was thrown off and injured. Although Shaka was thrown he was able to maneuver himself to stay safe but unfortunately Maddi was severely injured.

Maddi’s arm suffered a displaced humeral neck fracture. Maddi is unable to take the usual travel methods home due to the bone being very sharp and close to an artery making it unsafe to travel without immediate critical medical attention. She must travel by medivac to the nearest USA trauma center. We suspect she has a minor concussion as well but is unable to get the proper scan at the current hospital to confirm. She needs surgery and we are praying the insurance company will

reimburse her. However, it’s extremely unclear because the hospital is refusing to take any American insurance, even with her insurance covering bordering countries. If she were to go a public hospital in Mexico, she could be there for 2-3 weeks waiting for a trauma surgeon. Waiting is not an option for them as they need to return to the states & their son.

Maddi is an Oncology Nurse and loves her profession to no end. She is a hard working nurse, a loving mother, and an amazing friend to us all. Even after getting the care she needs desperately she will be out of work for an upwards of 4 months, which will be devestating to their finances. They have already spent $6000USD in Mexico trying to take care of Maddi.

The entire experience is overwhelming, painful and traumatic but Maddi & Shaka have managed to stay in good spirits. To quote Maddi “If we don’t laugh, we’ll cry.”

As of right now, they are trying to get Maddi back to the states through Medical evacuation & get her to the closest trauma hospital, but will still be away from their sweet boy for an unknown period of time.
