Rally for Skip's Urgent Medical Needs

My name is Stacey Margraves and I have created this fundraiser for my dad, Hugh (Skip) Robinson to help defray the costs of cancer treatment and recovery not covered by his insurance.

My dad was forced to retire in 2020 due to COVID and a pre-existing condition, thus on a fixed income. On January 15, 2025, he was taken by ambulance to UPMC Hamot and diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), an aggressive and potentially fatal form of leukemia. After being transported via ambulance to UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh the same day, he underwent an aggressive, 24/7 round of chemotherapy and received blood and platelet transfusions. He spent 35 days at Shadyside, where my parents incurred large additional costs including hotel stays for my mom, medication & medical equipment upon discharge, costs for traveling between Erie and Pittsburgh, and more.

Upon returning to Erie, he continued to receive blood and platelet transfusions and began a new chemotherapy regimen. On, April 2, 2025, he was again transported to UPMC Hamot via ambulance and diagnosed with pneumonia. Due to the leukemia complications, the hospital was unable to perform normal procedures to drain the flood from his lung cavity. He was admitted to the ICU and then transported via Medivac helicopter to UPMC Shadyside's MICU. He has since been diagnosed with double pneumonia and pancreatitis. Despite being removed from ICU, he continues to fight the leukemia, pneumonia, and pancreatitis. He is receiving platelet transfusions and needs daily physical therapy. We are anxiously awaiting the day the doctors clear him for a bone marrow transplant and hopeful he will get there!

My mom has been traveling between Erie and Pittsburgh and staying in hotels, despite battling her own health issues. This has been a very difficult 3 month, with no end in sight.
