Rally for Shawn: A Heart Full of Kindness

On behalf of all family and friends, we are showing our love and support for Shawn McCartney, and his wife Toni, through this fundraiser. Shawn is fighting a medical battle, and we want him to know he has an army backing him up.

Shawn has already gone through one round of cancer, in his lung and his throat, and it was nothing short of a struggle. He had developed thrush and could barely eat. He had lost so much weight, they thought he might need a feeding tube, but he was able to pull through.

He had been in remission, building his strength back, and during a checkup, they found two new nodules in his throat. He was told they would weigh the options, and submit his records to the Board of Tumors. After being denied surgery, he was setting up all of his appointments for his next battle of chemo and radiation.

The day of his appointment to schedule the next three months of treatments, the company he worked for, was hit with layoffs. He came home from the doctors office to an email that informed him that he would be impacted, and that that day would be his last at the company.

Shawn had grown so much during the almost 3 years he had been working there. His confidence in himself was beaming, and he was proud of what he had accomplished. Work was his safe place, his distraction from chaos, and where he had gained more family and friends he could count on. All of which was taken right before the holidays, and during a time where he needs the most.

Shawn now has gone through one week of chemo and has developed thrush yet again. They have put in a feeding tube to give him the nutrients he needs. Toni has been lovingly right by his side, trying to stay strong for the both of them.

This man has the biggest heart, and his loyalty is unmatched. His dedication to kindness and gratitude for others is so inspirational, and we want to be able to reciprocate everything back to him during this tough time. We are asking for help for him, and Toni, while she cares for him, to keep their strength from wavering. Thank you for all your support.
