On November 5th Shari Robertson - Lawn was involved in a life-changing motorcycle accident while at the Lone Star Rally in Texas. Riding as a passenger, Shari & a friend were struck by a Ford F150 pickup as their Harley Davidson crossed an intersection. Both of them became entangled under the truck after a horiffic collision. Shari's friend did not survive.
Rushed to a nearby hospital, Shari endured many surgeries. Her injuries were so extensive that the medical team did not think she would make it that night. They fused her spine together, inserted a steel rod in her right femur, repaired kidney damage and had her in surgery all day to set her shattered pelvis. Specialists were flown to Texas to help with all the delicate & complicated surgeries. An injury to Shari's right ankle was so severe that the decision was made to amputate her right leg just below the knee.
Fortunately, Shari was wearing a helmet so the medical staff believes there is no long term brain or head injuries. With all the surgeries, she's been heavily sedated for several weeks on a ventilator and is slowly starting the painful rehabilitation process.
The physical & emotional toll will be staggering as well as the medical expenses. Shari's world got turned upside down in an instant. Home life, work, transportation.... everything will have to be adjusted/changed/modified.
