On 8/16 our darling friend Shannon suffered an accident during a softball game. She broke 9 bones in her beautiful face, broke ribs and suffered a concussion. She is currently awaiting reconstruction surgery on 9/6 to put her face back together. After surgery she will have 2-3 weeks more off work while she recovers.
Shannon is a huge part of our community and does so much for the Hood River Elks Community. Her bright spirit and cheerful personality light up every room she enters.
She is missing work and acquiring a lot of medical bills. After insurance, the out of pocket medical expenses and lost wages are a substantial burden. The softball league’s insurance does not cover personal injury.
Let’s rally together and do what we can to support our dear friend as she recovers.
Update from Shannon: I had my surgery Friday. Surgeon said it was successful and they were able to re-set and align everything where it is supposed to be. Took a couple plates and a bunch of screws. Sounds like he did have to rebreak things a little because of the time between the injury and the reconstruction.
I’m super sore, but feel much more upbeat and positive about things now that it’s behind me. Every day will be better than the prior one. They were able to go through my mouth with about a 2 inch incision above my teeth, so I will have no outward scars.
I should be able to eat again in about three weeks.
Thank you so much to all of my amazing people for all of the support, prayers, positive thoughts and love. I appreciate all of the soups and blended foods.
I love you all and miss hanging out with everyone! I am very fortunate to have so many great friends.
A huge thank you to the most amazing best friend and hubby, Tyler. I don’t know what I’d do with out you.
