April 10th, 2017 was a regular night in downtown Sarasota. It was a slower night with few people bustling down Main Street. One of these people was our beloved friend Ryan C. Wear. Ryan enjoyed a casual night out with friends and then left Smokin Joe's Pub at closing. He was making the short walk home when he was hit and run over by a truck. The truck struck his head and rolled over his body. The driver did not stop to assist Ryan in any way, leaving him for dead. Thankfully, someone saw him lying unresponsive in the road and called an ambulance. Ryan was immediately rushed as a trauma alert to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition. After being in a coma for six days he awoke to a punctured lung, shattered leg, a battered and bruised body, and head trauma so severe his jaw was completely wired shut. Ryan is a beloved member of the Smokin Joe's family and Sarasota community. His road to recovery is going to be a long one paved with a lot of bills. If you can donate money to ease the mountain of medical bills coming his way please do so here. Smokin Joe's will be holding a fundraiser night for Ryan as soon as he is able to attend. Details will be coming soon for this event as we learn more about when he will be able to leave medical facilities. Thank you and God Bless.
