Rally for Roy: Support Roy’s Recovery from Severe Burns
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sydney Hicks. I’m Wyatt’s little sister, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of him, Jenae, and their sweet little boy, Roy James as well as his sisters.
On Sunday, May 4th, what started as a normal evening quickly turned into every parent's nightmare. While away from home, 1.5-year-old Roy tripped and fell into a fire ring. Although the fire itself was no longer burning, there were still hot ashes that caused serious burns to his hands and knee.
Roy was rushed to the Princeton Emergency Room within 10 minutes. After an initial evaluation, doctors determined that his injuries were too severe for their facility to handle. Roy and his mom, Jenae, were then transported by ambulance to the burn unit at HCMC in Minneapolis.
Here’s the most recent update on Roy’s condition:
Roy has sustained second-degree burns on parts of both hands, and third-degree burns on his left hand and right knee. He is currently being evaluated by a surgical team to determine whether a skin graft will be necessary, and when that might occur.
Roy is one of the happiest, most resilient little boys, and we know he’s strong—but the road ahead will involve hospital stays, treatments, skin grafts, and ongoing recovery.
We’re asking for your help to support Wyatt, Jenae, Roy and his two sisters (Reece and Riggins) through this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go directly toward medical expenses, transportation, lost wages, and anything else the family may need to stay by Roy’s side during his healing process.
Please keep Roy in your thoughts and prayers. Any support, no matter how small, means the world to our family. We’ll continue to share updates as we receive them.
