In Loving Memory of Roxy: Help Greg Recover From Vet Debt
If you’ve spent time in Hillcrest, you’ve seen the quiet magic Greg brings to our neighborhood. He’s the one who shows up before the sun rises to clean our bars and restaurants — including Gossip — making sure our community is spotless and welcoming before the first door opens. He never asks for recognition, never complains, and never hesitates to lend a hand.
A little over a year ago, Greg adopted Roxy — a sweet, anxious rescue pup who had been spayed and brought up from Mexico by a local foster organization. He gave her a home filled with patience, care, and gentle love. The kind of home every dog deserves.
Recently, Roxy started having health issues. After several vet visits and imaging, it was discovered that during her original spay surgery, gauze and a piece of wire had been left inside her. These foreign objects caused damage over time and eventually required emergency surgery.
Greg took on over $7,000 in vet bills without hesitation.
Heartbreakingly, despite everything, Roxy passed away last night.
She spent her final year deeply loved. And Greg did everything in his power to fight for her. Now, we want to come together as a community to help ease the financial weight he’s carrying.
Greg is a part of the fabric of Hillcrest — someone who’s cared for our spaces with quiet devotion for years. Let’s show up for him now.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help ease the burden of this enormous, unexpected debt. And every share spreads the word to others who may want to help too.
Let’s honor Roxy’s memory by lifting up the person who loved her most.
With gratitude,
