Creating an Accessible Home For Rosie
Donation protected
We are the children of Walt and Rosie Kolditz. Three weeks ago, our beloved mother, Rosie, suffered a massive stroke. Luckily, they were able to operate immediately and remove the clot, but she was intubated and unconscious for several days. Doctors didn't give us much hope, and our family, along with all of our loved ones and friends, turned to prayer. We witnessed many miracles, and our mom was able to open her eyes and start interacting with us. She would squeeze our hands and rub our cheeks and ears. Each day we saw huge improvements, and they were eventually able to take her off the ventilator and feeding tube. Our mom started to say words. She remembered each of our names and told us she loved us. We are so grateful for these special moments we have had with her, and for the outpouring of love and support, we have received.
Rosie is now in a rehabilitation center until March 10th. They are working with her movement and speech. She continues to improve every day, but still has trouble moving anything on her left side. When she is discharged, she will need 24/7 care at home. Unfortunately, our parent's home is no longer accessible to her, as she will be using a wheelchair. Generous neighbors have helped to build a ramp into their home, but they are still in desperate need of a bathroom and bedroom that will accommodate her.
Our goal is to help raise money to fix the areas in their home so that our mom can come back, and have the facilities she needs. We know our dad is taking on a lot of new responsibilities, and this would help them tremendously.
We are so grateful to all of you! We have felt your arms of support lifting our mom, and the rest of our family. It has truly sustained us all during this time. Thank you! We love you!
