Rally for Rosann - Caring for the Caregiver

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Sam. I created this fundraiser to benefit my stepmom, Rosann Tunny-George.

Rosann was in a car accident April 17th. Sitting in a turn lane, the car she was in was rear-ended by a van going at least 55mph. The driver was distracted & never hit the brakes.

Rosann suffered a broken back and spinal cord injury, leaving her with paralysis in both her legs.

...A nurse by profession & an all-around do-gooder as a person... Rosann has given so much to so many people and helped with so many things. When others are running away from catastrophe, she's running toward it to help with whatever she can.

So many people could tell a story of a way that she has impacted their lives...

After 2 weeks in the hospital, she's now in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital and working hard to regain her upper-body strength & balance in her core. There, they will also help show her ways to be independent moving forward, once she's at home.

SO MANY PEOPLE have asked what they can do to help.

The prognosis isn't definite at this point, and we still have hope that she will have more healing as time goes by. The only thing certain is that it's a long road ahead...

In the meantime, my goal with this fundraiser is to alleviate the financial stress and uncertainty this has caused them.

We've learned a lot about injuries like hers over the last few weeks...

One thing being that there are no 2 spinal cord injuries that are the same. Everyone's journey with it will be different. Every person will have different needs and find different ways to adapt. Every person heals differently and at their own body's pace.

Another being that the individual's outlook plays a HUGE role in their progress. The less stress and more focus that can be put toward helping them to keep making & achieving their goals, the better.

And another being... your prayers, good vibes, positivity and support DOES HELP - more than anything! Keep it coming!

My hope through this fundraiser is that as often as possible, my dad and Rosann can make decisions based on what Rosann needs, and not what they're able to swing financially.

Missed work & massive medical bills are not a good pair. Insurance buckets dry out and there is only so much to go around anyway.

Still there is equipment she will need & modifications that will need to be made at home for her to be comfortable & as independent as possible... many of those things we know are not covered by insurance.

We all can agree -

Rosann deserves a miracle... the best life possible... whatever that may look like.

Most of us have seen her weather storms with the kind of grace that seems impossible in a human. Still she is giving and caring and kind.

This is going to be tough - but I don't know anything or anyone tougher than she is.

If you're able, and feel lead to do so... please consider making a donation to pay forward all of her inspiring awesomeness.
