Rally for Ronan: A Little Boy, A Big Fight, A Family in Need
Donation protected
On the afternoon of June 29 2025 around 2pm, an unimaginable event at Villa La Jolla Park changed the Kerr family’s life forever. While playing at the park, 4-year-old Ronan Kerr was struck on the head by a large, falling eucalyptus tree. Ronan was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he remains, surrounded by the love and strength of his mother Dara, father Cathal, his 7-year-old brother Charlie, and everyone who knows and cherishes this beautiful family. His father, Cathal, also suffered injuries while trying to shield his two sons from impact.
No family ever imagines facing something like this. As they stand beside Ronan during the most difficult fight of his young life, Dara and Cathal have put everything else on hold. Work, routine, stability — all paused. Their focus is entirely on Ronan’s healing, Charlie’s care, and simply making it through each moment together.
We’re rallying to support them however we can. The days and weeks ahead are filled with uncertainty. These funds will help the Kerr family navigate this painful and unpredictable chapter — covering immediate medical costs, living expenses while both parents are away from work, support for Charlie, and anything else they need to stay afloat and stay together. Your support will allow them to focus on what matters most, without the added weight of financial stress during a time that is already unimaginably heavy.
This fundraiser is about more than money. It’s about surrounding the Kerrs with the compassion, care, and practical support they need right now. It’s about giving them one less thing to worry about — so they can focus on what matters most: being together, staying strong, and holding onto hope.
If you’re able to give, your donation will go directly to the family. And if you’re not in a position to contribute, please share this page with your network. The more people who know about Ronan, the more love we can send their way.
We also hope Ronan’s story raises awareness about the hidden dangers of large trees in our public parks. No child or family should have to face what the Kerrs are facing. Let’s work together not just to help this family — but to ensure our parks are safe for everyone.
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for being part of their village.
With gratitude
