Hi, my name is Sabrina, and this is the story of my beloved dog and best friend, Rocco—also known as Rocco Taco, Boog, and Taki Man. About two weeks ago, on 4/20/24, Rocco suddenly stopped during his usual energetic zoomies around the house. It was clear he was in pain, and initially, the vet suspected a lower back injury (which is still a possibility), but the likely cause was far more serious than we could have imagined.

Rocco has been diagnosed with suspected leptospirosis, a severe condition that causes acute liver and kidney failure leading to death. This diagnosis came after noticing he was in significant pain, lethargic, and had stopped eating, leading to a dramatic weight loss of 7lbs in just 10 days.

He is currently battling this disease and needs multiple days in the hospital to stabilize his liver and kidneys. Once stabilized, he will require further treatment to manage his condition effectively.

The mounting vet bills for his hospital stays and ongoing care are overwhelming. We urgently need support for his immediate medical expenses, primarily around-the-clock care at the hospital (4-5 days as of 4/30/24) to stabilize his kidney and liver.
