Help Support Rob Yager in His Fight Against Cancer.
For over 20 years, Rob Yager has been a steadfast protector of our community. As a volunteer firefighter with both the West Monroe and Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Departments, Rob dedicated his life to saving others, rising to the rank of Lieutenant and ensuring the safety of countless lives. Even after his retirement from the department in 2021, Rob continued to serve as the department’s engineer, tirelessly maintaining life-saving equipment to ensure his team was always ready for the call.
Earlier last year, Rob’s life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with Stage 3 small cell lung and lymph node cancer. His diagnosis forced him to medically retire from driving heavy haul trucks in February 2024. Since then, Rob has endured three months of grueling daily radiation and weekly chemotherapy. Now, his journey continues with monthly treatments and bi-monthly scans to monitor his progress.
Despite his strength and resilience, the financial burden of ongoing medical expenses has become overwhelming. While insurance offers some assistance, it doesn’t cover everything—and this is where we, as a community, can step in to help.
On March 22, 2025, the Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a benefit to honor Rob and provide much-needed support for his treatments. However, we recognize that not everyone can attend in person, so we’ve created this GoFundMe campaign to give everyone an opportunity to show their appreciation for Rob’s service and help him during this difficult time.
Rob Yager is more than a firefighter—he’s a friend, a mentor, and a hero to so many. He has spent his life running toward danger to protect others. Now, it’s our turn to help Rob.
Every donation, big or small, will make a difference. Your support will not only help ease the financial strain on Rob and his family but also remind him that his community stands with him, just as he stood with us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. Together, we can give back to a man who has given so much to all of us.
