Rally for River
Donation protected

Hello my name is Mariah Billman and I currently live in Central Ohio. I am a close friend to the Masimer family. River’s mom and dad, Kayla and Nahum Masimer are like family to me. This is a dedication to the Masimer family. Their family cosists of 6 kids, River Legend being the newest addition. At Kayla's 20 week ultrasound River had a lot of red flags. After being sent to Riverside they discovered River had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Along with this he had a two vessel umbilical cord, they would normaly have three. Due to River's Heart Disease (HLHS) he will need three open heart surgeries before the age of 5.
River had a tramatic birth on June 26th, 2020, having the umbilical cord wrapped twice around his neck, this led to further complications that resulted in needing emergency open heart surgery. Complications during this first surgery led to a second surgery the next day to place a proper stent in his heart. River is in recovery, but because of the complications that occured, Doctors are saying he will not be allowed to come home for a longer projected period than first expected. Looking at 6-8 weeks rather than 2-4 weeks. River is projected to make a full recovery from the first and second surgery.
Currently, the family's immediate and extended family members are providing urgent financial support to help fill in the gaps of care for River Legend Masimer. We are building this campaign to support their efforts and to ensure that the Masimer family will recieve support in the upcoming surgeries over the next 5 years.

In the interest of full transparency, GoFundMe takes a fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per donation (GoFundMe may ask you for a "tip" which you can opt out of) -- the entirety of the remainder of the funds raised will go directly to the Masimer family.
Donations are not tax deductible, but can be anonymous if you'd like. We decided to go with GoFundMe because it is one of the largest, most established crowdsourcing platforms, and we felt safe that the donated money would end up in the right hands.
We thank you for this collective effort in supporting the Masimer Family!
