Rally for Rhett and the Parkhurst family

Ben and Hannah Parkhurst and their family are going through the fight of their lives for their son John Rhett Parkhurst. Rhett has unexplainably developed multiple medical conditions since his birth on December 9, 2023. It began with congenital cataracts for which he has had two separate surgeries at MUSC in February. Since these surgeries Rhett has slowed down on eating and was placed on a feeding tube. He made progress and was bottle feeding again back in February so the family was able to return home.

Rhett again slowed on his feeding and wound up back at the hospital in March for another feeding tube placement. When the family returned home again Rhett began to not tolerate his feeding tube. Ben and Hannah then noticed his breathing was slowing and his oxygen was not optimal. A decision was made to bring him back to the hospital for observation and he was placed on oxygen.

Days later Rhett had another set back with his breathing. Rhett was unable to keep is oxygen up and was unable to breathe on his own. Rhett was placed on a ventilator. Rhett remains on a ventilator to this day, at MUSC in Charleston. We are grateful that he is with some of the best pediatric doctors and nurses in the country but we are still praying for answers and recovery for this sweet boy, his sisters and his parents. The family is uprooted from Bluffton at this time, going back and forth to Charleston and would benefit from any help with travel, food and of course medical bills.

Ben is a paramedic/firefighter for the Town of Hilton Head Island, saving lives. Hannah has made vacationers dreams come true with Island Getaway rentals for several years. These are our people and they need our help.
