My sweet boy, REMs/Remington, who has overcame cancer mass removal surgery just only a year ago, had a returning mass on his chest. As soon as I discovered the growth, we had it checked out by his Veterinarian, and at the time it was decided another mass looked more concerning, so we did a FNA which came back as a non cancerous lipoma, and we were recommended to watch the both for any changes.
January roles around, and it has gotten bigger.
I not only consulted his Vet, but we saw a Specialist Surgeon at Queen Creek Gilbert Emergency Hospital ($300 consultation fee) that made things really REAL for us.
He recommended that on top of the mass removal, a few ribs might need to be removed as well, and his front right leg would also need to be amputated......
They also suggested we see an Oncologist/Radiation Specialist before we made any decisions.
So we did ($300).... only to learn that I unfortunately cannot afford Radiation Treatment.
While we were there they suggested an XRay of his abdomen to make sure surgery could even be an option, only he had to be sedated due to the amount of pain he was presenting ($697).
XRay showed that it was not near his lungs, however.... a CT would be needed to determine the safest route of surgery, since they are suspecting the mass is Soft Tissue Sarcoma, a type of cancer that binds to the connective tissue, muscles, and typically anything nearby a leg/limb, abdomen, or chest... in REMs case, his chest.
I am not back to consulting with his original Vet, and he is scheduled for a CT scan on 2/14/2025 which will cost somewhere between $1,400-1,800.
And once we have those results, we will need to figure out funds for the surgery. I have absolutely no idea how much the surgery will be at this time, but I can tell you that the specialist surgeon - quoted me $5,000 - $6,000.
I am hoping it won't be that much, as I am already borrowing funds to get him through the CT scan. Which leads me to the thing I struggle most with.. asking for help. But here I am, for my boy, because he is oh so very worthy of it.
Not only has he made the last 10 years of my life better by being in it, but my friends and family as well. This boy is 100% the reason as to why I am able to utilize my two legs, where that was a short time of my life that I could not even walk.
I know he needed rescuing at just 4 weeks old, when he lost his momma at too young of an age.
But honestly, he rescued me.
Please help me, help him <3
