My name is Ralph Amsden IV, and I’m raising money for my dad, Ralph Amsden III, so that he can rest and rehabilitate from a brain injury suffered at work.
If you know, Ralph, you know three things
1) he’s hilarious
2) he never takes a day off
3) he’s generous (if he does take a day off, it’s to spend it in service of others)
Unfortunately, this last week he fell at work and fractured his skull. The fracture led to brain bleeds and at least one seizure. As of the time of this message, he is still hospitalized, but hopefully he’ll be released soon.
But that release will come with orders to avoid driving and flying, and doing all the things he does to make a living.
He’s been seriously injured before, and found ways to power through, but that’s just not the recipe for recovery for a brain injury.
The man needs to put all of his energy into something we’ve all rarely seen him do- he needs to spend at least the next few months resting so he can get back to painting houses and hanging out with his grandkids.
He has been in the process of trying to retire to South Dakota for the last few years. He works in Arizona, while his wife Susie is already out in South Dakota on the property they purchased.
He’s been pushing himself physically in order to raise the money to be able to be out there with her, but it has been a long and physically grueling process.
We’re asking for financial help to give him the opportunity to pay medical bills, as well as rest, so that he can get to full strength, go back to work, and finishing construction on their home.
If you know him, and you are reading this, there’s a good chance that you have benefited from his generosity, and an even better chance than that that he’s never asked for anything in return. I know he’s probably going to hate that I’m asking for something on his behalf, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Please help us get this man back on his feet by supporting the all hands on deck effort to keep him OFF his feet while he heals.
