We are heartbroken to share the passing of Mr. Q Staton, a beloved member of the Lockwood School District who dedicated over 16 years to serving our students, staff, and community. Mr. Staton was known for his kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to others. His impact will be felt for years to come.

The Lockwood music program, which was close to his heart

Help Support Mr. Q Staton – Beloved Lockwood Choir Teacher & Community Treasure

For over a decade, Q Staton has been the heart and soul of the choir program at Lockwood Middle and High School. A passionate educator, mentor, and performer, Mr. Staton has touched the lives of hundreds of students with his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering positivity. Whether he's directing a school concert, sharing his talent on local opera stages, or offering kind words to a student in need, Q is a force of nature whose impact extends far beyond the classroom.

Several years ago, Q was diagnosed with cancer—a devastating result of long-term Crohn’s medication. He bravely faced numerous surgeries, as well as grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation to his face, mouth, and throat. Though these treatments affected his ability to sing and speak, Q never lost his passion or spirit.

Recently, Q received heartbreaking news: his cancer has returned in the form of an inoperable tumor. He has just begun another round of treatment, and while he remains hopeful, the road ahead is uncertain. As he focuses on his health, it’s unclear when—or if—he’ll be able to return to the job and students he loves so dearly.

Now, it's our turn to give back to someone who has given so much. We’re raising funds to help support Q through this difficult time. Donations will go toward:

Medical bills and treatment costs not covered by insurance

Daily living expenses while he is unable to work

Supportive care and resources to maintain his quality of life
