Standing With "Eight": Support for Paul Benton’s Fight Against Stage IV Cancer

Family, friends, and community,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts to share that our dear friend, Paul “Eight” Benton, is currently in critical condition, fighting for his life following a recent diagnosis of Stage IV urachal cancer.

For those who know Paul, you know he is a man who truly embodies the term “free spirit.” He has always been a beacon of light in our community—a man of service, deep respect, and boundless energy. Ironically, Paul spent much of his life as a tireless advocate and proponent for finding a cure for cancer. Now, he finds himself in the middle of the very battle he worked so hard to help others win.

A Life Defined by Love and Service

Paul’s impact on those around him is immeasurable. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, being a teammate or coach on that softball diamond he loves so much, or his infectious zest for life, he has touched us all.

Of all the titles Paul has held, the one he cherished most was Father and more than that- “Dad.”

Paul found fatherhood and “Dad”-hood to be his most honorable role. He loves his children with every fiber of his being, placing them above everything and everyone else. They are his world, and today, we want to make sure that world is supported while he fights this uphill battle.
