On Saturday April 12, 2025 Patrick got the call that the kidney he had been waiting for for eight years might be his. We drove as fast as possible to UCSF to complete the final tests before transplant. We knew our lives were about to change, but had no clue just how much.

While completing the required angiogram, it was discovered that a major artery in his heart had a significant blockage that could have lead to a massive heart attack or worse. While we were in shock, we took this as a blessing from above. If not for coming in for this test, we may never have known of the severity of his need for intervention.

The plan is now set that he will have open heart surgery to bypass the clogged arteries and then begin the healing process to hopefully get a kidney in the near future.

As you can understand this has come as quite a shock to our lives. While we had been planning and saving for one major surgery (his kidney transplant) the addition of this life changing diagnosis and impending medical bills has left us needing assistance from our friends and family to cover our costs and ensure Patrick the best quality of care.

Everyone who knows Patrick talks about how positive and upbeat he always is. He has a smile that will light up a room and leaves everyone feeling happier that they know him.
