Rally for Pat: From Half Marathon to Recovery & Beyond

Hi, my name is Ania, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and deep hope for my little brother Pat. He may be 6’8” and tower over me, but to me, he’s always my little brother — a loving father of two, a devoted husband, and a gentle, generous soul.

In 2023, Pat decided to take up running. Inspired by my own love for the sport, he made it his mission to complete a half marathon — and after months of hard work, he proudly crossed the finish line in January 2025. We started doing long runs together, and he quickly fell in love with the rhythm, the challenge, and the peace that running brought him. He was even training for his first full marathon this June — Grandma’s Marathon — and was doing so well, both physically and mentally.

But in March, something felt off. He started to lose his appetite after long runs, and we chalked it up to normal training fatigue. But it got worse. Nausea. Vomiting. Weight loss. Finally, an ER visit — and then the devastating discovery: a tumor in his colon, and another in his liver.

In the span of weeks, everything changed. He’s now undergone surgery, has a colostomy, and is beginning chemotherapy. Despite it all, Pat remains hopeful, steady, and still cracking jokes when he can. His love for his family and his determination to fight are as strong as ever.

But the costs are immense — financially, emotionally, and physically. That’s why we’re asking for your help.
