Rally for Parker: Help after a tragic fireworks accident

We are reaching out to the community and to loved ones to help my nephew, Parker Ball. Parker is 19 years old and was devastatingly injured in a terrible fireworks accident on June 26th. While we initially had hope he would retain some use of his hand, he ultimately suffered the entire amputation at the wrist of his right hand.

Parker is currently living by himself in an apartment in Grand Forks, ND. He is working as a commercial roofer. Parker hopes to remain living in Grand Forks if he is able for his occupational and physical therapy. Parker is a young and energetic man who is passionate about life and all things outdoor related. He loves working on his truck, hunting, and water/motorsports.

We are asking for donations to help get Parker through this absolutely devastating accident. In the short term, Parker is not sure when he will be able to go back to work. He will need assistance to cover any medical bills not covered by insurance. He will also need help paying his day-to-day expenses until he is able to work again. He will also need help adjusting to a new life with only one hand. This will ultimately require many specialized and adaptive tools to do the every day things that most people take for granted. These tools will be many and will be costly.

In the long term, Parker will more than likely need to transition to a different career as well. He will also be in need of a prosthetic hand. Early assessment is that his insurance company may not cover a useful prosthetic. Our initial estimates for a functioning prosthetic hand range from $20,000 - $100,000!

Parker is in amazingly good spirits for someone his age, but will need lots of help adjusting to his new life with only one hand. We are humbly asking for thoughts, prayers, and your donations. With your help, this tragic accident will not define the rest of his life, but instead be a speed bump in this young man's bright future.
