Help Nick and Steve Recover from Race Weekend Losses
Donation protected
UPDATE: it never ceases to amaze me how quickly this community can come together to support each other. In less than 12 hours we raised the money to cover the financial hardships incurred during the race. Closing the donations!
On Friday and Saturday of Wrong Turn Weekend, we experienced two robberies.
Nick Makuch, Assistant Race Director of Wrong Turn and the Driveway, was followed from Chase Bank on Stassney to Kwik Ice on Ben White by a car with temporary plates after withdrawing $3100 and robbed. This is a devastating loss for the race. We’re thankful Nick wasn’t hurt. Nick continued to work the remaining 9 hours of his shift at the race but was visibly shaken.
We’ve filed a police report but the license plate is illegible and the suspect was wearing a mask and a hoodie.
On top of that, Steve David, USAC Moto Official had his car broken into in Buda while staying overnight at the race hotel and had his equipment stolen. Steve is a crucial part of the Texas and Louisiana cycling scene and is crucial to its success. His insurance deductible is $1000.
We’re hoping the bike racing community can come together to help these two individuals who do so much to support the Texas scene.
