For years, David Spatz, known to every child at Kedron Elementary School in Peachtree City simply as “Mr. Dave”, has been far more than a crossing guard. He has been a daily hero, a friendly face, and a beloved community legend. Every morning and afternoon, rain or shine, Mr. Dave has stood at his post with a big smile, a kind word, and a watchful eye, safely guiding our elementary school children across the street. To the kids, he isn’t just “the crossing guard”—he’s Mr. Dave, the man who makes them feel seen, safe, and special on their way to and from school.
This morning, March 23, 2026, tragedy struck. While faithfully performing his duties near Kedron Elementary, Mr. Dave was hit by a vehicle. He is now in critical condition at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, fighting for his life.
The road ahead will be long and expensive. Medical bills from a major trauma center like Grady, along with rehabilitation, will be overwhelming. Mr. Dave has given so much of himself to our children and our community—now it’s our turn to rally around him and his family.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
Medical treatment and hospital expenses
Rehabilitation and recovery costs
Support for his family during this crisis
Mr. Dave is a familiar and caring presence for our students and families. Whether you’ve known him for years, your child has waved to him every day, or you’re simply someone who believes in giving back to the quiet heroes among us—please help. Any amount matters. $5, $10, $25—every gift is a message to Mr. Dave that our community has his back. Please donate today and share this page far and wide. Let’s show Mr. Dave how much he means to all of us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
The Spatz Family & the Entire Kedron Elementary & Peachtree City Community
Praying for Mr. Dave’s full recovery! Share, donate, and spread the love!
