Rally for Mom's (Tammy Engelhardt) Recovery: ICU to Rehab

Donation protected
Saturday, June 7th, began like any other day.
We had so many special plans to celebrate our beautiful mom’s birthday. She wanted to go to Tony’s Ice Cream and then bowling—and
that’s exactly what we did. It was a joyful, laughter-filled day surrounded by the people who love her most.

But everything changed overnight.

That evening, Mom mentioned her ear was hurting and leaking a light fluid. By Sunday morning, our world was turned completely upside down. We found her unresponsive—she was trembling, her breathing was labored and gurgly, and her eyes were distant. She couldn’t speak. We immediately called 911.

Lincoln County EMS acted swiftly and with incredible care, doing everything possible to stabilize her and get her to safety.

Since then, Mom has spent the last nine days in the ICU, courageously fighting through strep pneumonia, bacterial meningitis, and two strokes. Every single day she shows us small, precious signs that she hears us. She's now preparing for a tracheostomy and a feeding tube through her abdomen to help ease her breathing and allow her body to rest and heal.

There is still a long and uncertain road ahead—neurologically and physically—but she is making small steps forward each day. Once she’s stable, we want to give her the absolute best chance at recovery through top-tier rehabilitation and ongoing care through these donations.

From the bottom of our hearts, we are so grateful for the love, prayers, and support that have poured in. Your kindness carries us through each difficult moment.

With love and gratitude,
Tammy’s Family

Update: we are 16 days in at the CCU
Mom has caught a new infection at the hospital. They had to turn her sedation back on jsut so her body and vitals can get better! The plan is for her to transfer to an LTAC facility as soon as this infection clears up! Its in Pineville which is an hour away from us! Continued prayers and healing for my mom and our entire family. This has been the hardest thing my dad has had to go through and we are all just trying our best to get through each day! Thankyou for the donations love and kindness ❤️
