I’m Gina Rosato, a longtime Silverton resident and friend of Mike’s. From the moment I met him 25 years ago, we discovered we had a lot in common — we’re both from Brooklyn, NY! Mike was one of the first people to encourage and help me launch my first retail storefront in Silverton, and for that, I’ll always be indebted to him.
I’m organizing this fundraiser with the help of many of Mike’s Silverton family to support him during his recovery. If you know Mike, you know he’s never one to sit still. He’s a hardworking man who has built his life here in Silverton—a place where making a living isn’t always easy. Being unable to work will bring real challenges in the months ahead, and with your help, we hope to ease that burden together.
Mike Geryak has been instrumental in shaping Silverton’s story — from helping kick off the revival of the historic Silverton Northern Railroad to leading the Blair Street Historic District Association, where he served as president.
Under Mike’s leadership, the Blair Street Historic District Association launched a restoration and beautification project that received a generous $50,000 donation from former U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell, designated for Blair Street improvements and the creation of a new community performance venue in Anesi Park (formerly Columbine Park) — a stage now proudly named in Mike’s honor. A skilled woodworker, Mike personally designed and built the stage himself, transforming raw lumber into a gathering place where Silverton’s music, stories, and laughter continue to come alive.
Known affectionately as “Silverton’s King of Rock ’n’ Roll,” Mike has been part of the town’s musical heartbeat for the past five decades. A talented singer and guitarist, he has performed solo at countless local venues and events and is a longtime member of the beloved Silverton band Too Little O₂, known for lively renditions of classic ’60s hits. Whether on the Mike Geryak Stage or in a downtown lounge, his music has brought joy and connection to generations of locals and visitors alike.
Mike is also a veteran and an active member of the American Legion Post 14, where he helped establish a scholarship program for students at Silverton Public School — another testament to his commitment to community.
In the last week of October, Mike suffered a serious accident when he fell from the roof of his workshop. He sustained multiple injuries, including a double brain bleed, several broken vertebrae, and multiple broken ribs. Although he’s making steady progress in his recovery, it will take time before he’s able to return to work or resume performing.
This fundraiser is to help Mike cover his living expenses during his recovery — easing the burden while he regains his strength and continues to heal.
Mike has always been willing to lend a hand, or bring music and laughter to our community. Now, it’s our turn to show up for him.
Every contribution — no matter the amount — will go directly toward supporting Mike through his recovery and ensuring he can return to the Silverton he’s helped build, beautify, and inspire.
Thank you for helping one of Silverton’s finest get back on his feet.
