What a hard story to put into words. The love of my life, the patriarch of our family, best dad and pop-pop anyone could ask for, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma primary in the lungs. What started out two weeks ago as us thinking he had laryngitis with a short visit to the ER, within a couple of hours, devastated our entire family.
Mike was then told about the two massive tumors he has grown, one at 11 cm in his lung that is sitting on his voice box nerve (so speaking is tough) and another 10.4 cm one in his adrenal gland. Aultman staff kept him overnight for more tests where we found out it has metastasized in his lungs and his brain. We cannot say enough about how great the team treated him while he was there for a week. Later, he got a biopsy and confirmed adenocarcinoma primary in his lungs, which the doctors followed up with two sessions of radiation to the brain to shrink the two tumors there.
Mike doesn’t currently have medical insurance, but the doctors and nurses treated him so well.
On to the hard part, we as a family have gone through some tough times this year and we’re just catching up on bills and such when this news rocked us to our foundations. Mike is a very proud man and has a hard time asking for help because he loves to take care of his family. As most know, I am on disability which pays near to nothing, but I come to ask you for some help so that the love of my life can get his treatments and not constantly worry about bills. This is probably the only way I could think to ask for help for him. If you can’t help, we totally understand and just ask that you send all the good vibes and prayers his way while he tries his hardest to control this cancer. If you can help donate anything, we appreciate it more than we can put into words. He is a hardworking man and I just want him to be able to get treatments and not worry because we all know negativity can play a big role in getting better.
If you have made it this far in my shortened version of the latest events, I truly love you all more than you realize. I am so proud of Mike for choosing to fight this because I can’t imagine a world without him in it.
thank you from the bottom of my heart
