Rally for Maya's Long Road to Recovery

Maya Ryan (12) was in a dirtbike accident with a friend where they collided with a car in DeLand, Volusia County on Monday, 2/17. She was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, Florida. So far, Maya has bleeding on the brain, a broken collarbone, a broken rib, and sustained serious injuries to her C-1 and C-2 vertebrae along with her spinal cord fluid sac. She underwent surgery last night and so far is doing as well as expected. She is heavily sedated and being closely watched. It is unknown exactly what her recovery will look like, only known it will be a long one. She is moving her legs around but still unsure of the extent of her damage or what her future holds. Update-3/13 Maya had to have a brain shunt put in to drain the fluids from her brain it went well but it slowed down recovery. From here she will go to a Inpatient Rehab physical therepy. From their she Will need cosmetic stuff to help with her mental health. Her two front teeth were damaged and broken also Lost a tooth in her lower left. Because she will be in a neckbrace for a few months and because of were we are currently living we need to move off of the 3rd floor apartment into a house that has level floors with no obstacles. I am currently staying with her a the hospital so movers or able bodies will be needed as soon as I secure a place to move. I travel home to help her brother and to get groceries on the weekend. I set the goal lower in the beginning because I wasn't sure what mayas recovery looked like. It's becoming more clear everyday. We've had a few bumps and setbacks but think we have a more clear view of that. Her estimated time in rehab is 1 month upon our arrival possibly next week..she is unable to walk on her own yet but has started to take a few steps with assistance.
