After a series of unexpected and serious medical complications, doctors have told Liz she will need open‑heart surgery and may ultimately face the possibility of a heart transplant. Her care will likely take place at St. Thomas in Nashville, TN, requiring frequent travel, long days away from home, and significant time away from work.
