Many of my friends know that I lost my husband, Walt, to cancer in 2007. What they may not know is that we lost our parents and recently our older brother to cancer. As you can imagine, I have an intense hatred for this disease that has taken so many family members and friends from me.

My sister, Lisa Still, a breast cancer survivor, has recently been diagnosed again with cancer. This time she has bilateral breast cancer and she has opted for aggressive treatment. Lisa currently has weekly chemo treatments with the anticipation of six months of chemo and two surgeries. So, she has a long journey ahead of her.

Lisa is no stranger to the effects of disease on patients and their families. She is a healthcare provider with over 35 years of service working in hospitals taking care of others. From preemie babies to seniors, she has seen a lot of patients with so many needs.

She is a single wage earner, which means that when her paid time off at work is depleted, she has no income if she is unable to work.

She hopes to continue to work when able, but if you are familiar with the side effects of chemo, you know that it's not reasonable to expect she will never have to use paid time off, especially after two surgeries requiring six to eight weeks of recovery each.

If you know Lisa, you know that she is fun, feisty, loving, smart, kind, outspoken, optimistic, and caring. She cares about her patients and their well-being. I hope you can find it in your heart to care about her during this time that she needs our care.

We need your help with medical bills and monthly expenses. I hope you will see it in your heart to contribute. We appreciate your love, prayers, and support as we continue on this journey of healing.
