Rally for Lindsey's Eye Treatment and Recovery
Donation protected
Lindsey Akiyama. You know her, you love her. And if you don't, I'm sorry. She's a spectacular photographer and an amazing friend. And, boy, she is going through it.
It started in 2021 when she found out she had a non-cancerous tumor in her eye. It would be concerning anyway, but she is legally blind in her left eye, so you can see how that levels things up. She went to Iowa City to get laser therapy.
In 2022, that therapy was successful and mitigated the damage.
But sometimes, things change. In 2024, she found out her tumor grew and was leaking fluid again. She keeps positive about the situation, but let's face it -- it's scary!
We come to the present day, when Lindsey finds out she has to have 12 rounds of radiation on her eye, for which she needs to stay in Iowa City for three weeks, largely by herself -- probably until around July 7th.
All of this would be terrible enough, but a week before, Lindsey's department was eliminated at work, so she lost her job and health insurance (I mean, c'mon!).
So, even though she wouldn't ask for herself, we're rallying the troops. She still doesn't know what lies ahead of her other than she's away from her family and facing a scary situation.
If you can contribute monetarily, that would help alleviate some stress. If you'd like to send a card/note of encouragement, you can send it to
