Hi, my name is Erin. I’m a family friend who has watched Landon, and his older brother Darius, grow up and excel as students and athletes. I’ve created this fundraiser to rally support around their family during this incredibly difficult time. 100% of the funds raised will go directly toward the family’s out-of-pocket hospital expenses from Landon’s injury. His parents will personally cover the costs of medications, therapies, and other ongoing expenses, but the hospital bills are overwhelming. Together, we can help lift some of that burden so Landon can focus fully on healing and his senior year.
The Injury
On July 29, Landon’s senior year took an unexpected turn. During football practice, he collided with another player’s knee and suffered a devastating Grade IV liver laceration — 60–70% of his liver was torn, causing massive damage and internal bleeding. An ambulance took Landon from the football field to Brenner’s Children’s Hospital, fighting through pain and severe nausea. Doctors explained that most people would not survive an injury this severe.
The Fight
Since that day, Landon’s journey has been marked by courage and resilience:
- Three emergency procedures and surgeries in four days, including embolization of pseudo-aneurysm, biliary stent placement, and laparoscopic surgery to remove more than two liters of bile, blood, and other fluids from his abdomen.
- Two extended hospital stays across three weeks, including four days in the ICU, with blood transfusion, partially collapsed lung, life-threatening infections (cholangitis), and weeks of constant monitoring through bloodwork, scans, and physical exams.
- Setbacks that landed him back in the hospital including the day he should have been starting his senior year.
- Waiting to be cleared for return to school and increased activities with an open wound, drain tube from liver, and collection bag that’s removing harmful fluids from his body.
Through it all, Landon has shown the heart of a true athlete. He walked hospital halls when most would be bedridden, pushed through breathing exercises despite pain, and remained kind and respectful to every nurse, doctor, and visitor. Instead of leading his team on the field as a starter as planned, he’s been leading by example — showing resilience, humility, and strength that inspires everyone around him.

Recovery will take months, and with two more procedures already scheduled, medical expenses continue to grow. While insurance helps with most of the costs, many hospital expenses fall directly to the family.
