Rally for Lalo: Hit-and-Run Recovery Fund

Hi, my name is Daniela, and I’m raising funds to support my younger brother Mauricio also known as Lalo after a tragic hit-and-run accident that changed his life.On March 10th, Lalo was hit while riding his motorcycle on Preston Highway. The driver fled the scene and still hasn’t been found. Lalo was left with severe injuries, including a traumatic brain injury and a broken pelvis, and was rushed to the ICU, where he remained for over a month.We’re incredibly grateful to share that Mauricio is now awake, but his recovery journey is just beginning. He’s still in the hospital, has undergone multiple surgeries, and will need long-term rehabilitation and care. The timeline is uncertain, but what we do know is that it will be a long road—physically, emotionally, and financially.Lalo is only 19. He had just moved into a new home with me and was starting to build his future. Anyone who knows him would describe him as the life of the party,always smiling, cracking jokes, and lifting up everyone around him. He was a hard worker and even volunteered through his job because that’s just who he is—kind, generous, and full of heart.At the time of the accident, Mauricio didn’t have health insurance, and the medical bills are already overwhelming. My family and I are doing everything we can, but we need help to continue supporting his recovery and to make sure he has the care and resources he needs to heal and regain his life.If you’re able to donate, we are so thankful. Hola, mi nombre es Daniela y estoy recaudando fondos para apoyar a mi hermano menor, Mauricio, también conocido como Lalo, después de un trágico accidente de atropello y fuga que cambió su vida.

El 10 de marzo, Lalo fue atropellado mientras iba en su motocicleta por Preston Highway. El conductor se dio a la fuga y aún no ha sido identificado. Lalo sufrió heridas graves, incluyendo una lesión cerebral traumática y una fractura de pelvis. Fue trasladado de emergencia a cuidados intensivos, donde permaneció por más de un mes.

Estamos increíblemente agradecidos de poder compartir que Mauricio ya está despierto, pero su camino hacia la recuperación apenas comienza. Todavía está hospitalizado, ha pasado por múltiples cirugías y necesitará rehabilitación y cuidados a largo plazo. Aún no sabemos cuánto tiempo tomará, pero sí sabemos que será un proceso largo—físico, emocional y financiero.

Lalo tiene solo 19 años. Recién se había mudado conmigo para comenzar una nueva etapa de su vida. Cualquiera que lo conozca lo describiría como el alma de la fiesta—siempre sonriente, haciendo bromas y animando a quienes lo rodean. Era un joven trabajador y hasta participaba como voluntario en su trabajo, porque así es él: bondadoso, generoso y con un gran corazón.

En el momento del accidente, Mauricio no tenía seguro médico, y las cuentas hospitalarias ya son abrumadoras. Mi familia y yo estamos haciendo todo lo posible, pero necesitamos ayuda para seguir apoyando su recuperación y asegurarnos de que reciba el cuidado y los recursos que necesita para sanar y retomar su vida.
