MCKENNA Deserves a Fighting Chance Against Cancer – Please Help

Hi, my name is Kylie, and I’m asking for help for the most incredible woman I know—my mom, Lisa McKenna. She is the most generous, loving, and selfless person you could ever meet. She has always put others before herself, giving endlessly without expecting anything in return. But now, she needs support more than ever, and I refuse to let her fight this battle alone.

In August, my mom was diagnosed with cancer. A rare Stage 2 rectal cancer. For the past four months, she’s endured painful chemo treatments with unbearable side effects—crippling exhaustion, pain, and cold intolerance, to name a few. But despite it all, she never stopped taking care of me and our home, pushing through like the warrior she is. She never complains, never asks for help—she just keeps going.

Then, we got the devastating news—the chemo didn’t work. Now, she faces two more rounds, plus six weeks of daily radiation and chemo pills.

The following day, to add to her stress, she received a call that her temporary disability (TDI) benefits ran out. She now has no way to cover necessities like medical expenses, supplements, rent, utilities, groceries, and supporting me through cosmetology school.

The hardest part for her? The thought of not being able to return to the job she lives for, come April.

Working for a greenhouse isn’t just a job for my mom—it’s her passion, her therapy, her purpose.

She was holding onto the hope of returning in April, but with more aggressive treatment ahead, that future is uncertain.

The thought of losing that not only breaks her heart but also leaves her the stress of being without the income she desperately needs to survive.

She’s spent her entire life caring for everyone else. Now, it’s time for her to be taken care of. My mom is too humble to ask for help, but she desperately needs the support of her family and friends more than ever right now.

Losing my dad to cancer, 5 years ago, when I was just 14 was the most painful experience of my life. The thought of losing my mom, too, is something I can’t bear. She is my rock, my best friend, my safe place—my everything. Watching her go through this, knowing she’s worrying more about bills than her own health, is absolutely heartbreaking.
