Hello everyone!
Kyles wife here. 2025 started off of wonderful with our wedding reception. Beautiful night dancing the night away laughing and dancing. Little did we know a month later we would be where we are today.
Wednesday started our health journey thinking Kyle’s asthma was acting up. Very shortness of breath dizzy couldn’t walk for more then a minute without needing to sit down. Shortly after that we got bloodwork and test done because it was infact not his asthma.
1:45 in the morning (Thursday 2/27) we got a heart wrenching phone call telling us we need to get to the ER ASAP due to Kyle’s hemoglobins being 4.4… in a man it needs to be 13.5/14.0. We got there and the doctors couldn’t believe he was still standing and even alive.
Fast forward to 6am blood infusions started along with iron infusions. After hours and hours and hours of that still no word on what is wrong. All we know is that hes been losing blood dramatically Eventually we get scheduled for a GI appointment to do an upper and lower GI and a colonoscopy.
Fast forwarding to today (Friday 2/28) 7am Kyle goes in for his GI and colonoscopy. The words a wife never ever wants to hear.. cancer.
Friday 2/28 we found out that the best, strongest, most caring and hard working man has Colon Cancer.
We are Smiths. We are fighters. We will fight this fight and we will come out strong.
Surgery was today 3/3 to remove the tumors and get as much as possible out. The surgery was successful but unfortunately it was not at the same time… when they got in there they noticed the cancer had spread to the liver like they expected it did and it wasn’t a good idea to go in and pull it all apart. That’s when I heard the words “your husband has stage 4 cancer”.
Please keep my Bestfriend my husband in your thoughts and prayers are we go through this incredibly challenging chapter. Many people have asked how can they help, what can they do, what can you make for us. Well this might be the most helpful thing for us… it’s not easy to ask for help with medical bills, food, basic daily needs but a friend reached out and suggested this might be the easiest way for people to help Kyle and also be able to raise money for a cancer fundraiser.
Thank You all for the support and love.
The Smiths
