Rally for Kimberly: A Mother's Cancer Journey

Donation protected
My daughter is Kimberly Kinkaid, and she is a 35-year-old wife and mother to two boys and a beautiful newborn baby girl who is also the first girl born in our family.

Her last pregnancy was a STRUGGLE for herself and her body. They tell you how difficult the first trimester can be, but you really don’t know until you go through it. Her first trimester into her second trimester consisted of her profoundly vomiting everything up and hardly keeping anything down.

Then in her second trimester, she had kidney stones too large to pass which led her into having surgery and getting a stent put in place. This was absolutely miserable and hard considering that as the baby grows she will begin to push on the stent meaning that it’ll be extremely uncomfortable and painful for her.

During the third trimester, she became borderline anemic and unexpectedly broke her arm. The orthopedics say they have never seen a break like this in their entire career which raises questions and concerns. Because of this, She had to have her baby girl earlier than her expected due date so she can quickly get started on MRI’S, X-Rays, and Radiation because they suspect that there’s more underlying conditions that have caused her bones to be too brittle for this type of bone to break that easily.

December 20, 2024: She had to see a specialist in Baton Rouge. The doctors have concluded that her arm broke because of this lesion which will result in her getting a biopsy done after Scarlett is born to determine further. Being pregnant makes this that much harder and so far this storm we are in is an accurate depiction of what we are facing in this season.

February 4, 2025: The CT shows a lesion and the radiologist says a biopsy will need to be done. The bone scan only lit up the lesion on her arm which is great news. If it was an aggressive cancer or the lesion was worse than what it is it would’ve shown up more. She had a surgical biopsy on the 11th of this month and that’ll tell us if it’s a cyst or a tumor and if it’s malignant or benign.

February 25, 2025: Our world began to change in ways we never could have imagined. What started as a lesion on a broken arm quickly turned into something much more serious. 74 days into this journey, after going back and forth to Baton Rouge and doing multiple scans & tests with the specialist, her and her husband heard the words that shattered our world: “You have Ewing Sarcoma.”

Ewing Sarcoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that usually begins growing in a bone which usually affects the long bones, such as the thigh bone (femur), shin bone (tibia), and upper arm bone (humerus). It can spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body, such as the lungs, bone marrow, and other soft tissues.

The next step is to do a PET scan to make sure it doesn’t get in her bone marrow and lungs because that’s where it likes to go first. Then she will have a heart test so she can have her port put in and start an aggressive chemo every two weeks for five days straight in the hospital for an entire year. She will also need to file for disability and get on Medicare as soon as possible as well because she’ll have to quit her job to focus on this.

The entire family, friends and community are coming together to help raise her kids and help her husband to reduce any problems and concerns that she will have during her hospitalization. We want to take away all of her pain, stress and problems.

And now, I am here, humbly asking for prayers from around the world. Until the PET scan is done and the results are finalized will we truly understand what we are up against. But I believe with everything in me that God is working. The pieces, the connections, the months leading up to this moment they are not coincidences. They are part of something bigger.

For those who are able, a GoFundMe link is available; however, please know that your thoughts and prayers are equally appreciated.
