Rally for Kim Carter: Beat Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected
Attention fellow Salukis and friends of Kim Carter!!!

One of our own could use some love and support. Some of us have known Kim Carter as our beloved flight team coach. He has also taught numerous classes and instructed so many of us through our flight certificates/ratings at SIU. I don’t think that there is a kinder person out there or one that was more vested in his students. In fact, I just recently saw Kim down in Carbondale and he pulled out a book with pictures of every student that he has ever instructed. We were so lucky to have him in our program.

This past December, Kim broke his hip and while hospitalized for that recovery, he found out that he has pancreatic cancer. To say that his family is devastated would be an understatement. This is a fight of epic proportions and he just started chemotherapy this past Monday.

We know the generosity of this group, which is why we are asking for your help!

First and foremost, Kim and his wife Christy have asked for prayers. They have found a wonderful cancer treatment center. Kim’s first goal is to make it through chemotherapy so that he can get surgery to remove the tumors. We also believe that Kim would truly feel loved if each of you could send a message and/or call him to say hi and tell him that you are thinking of him!

Alicia Edmondson and I are coordinating a fund to be used for grocery deliveries, restaurant gift cards, and money for medical bills/prescriptions that are not covered by insurance. While Kim and Christy both use walkers to get around, I know that we can ease this time for them with deliveries!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your help! We can’t think of a more deserving couple. Let’s surround them with prayers, love, and hope as they fight off this horrible cancer.
