From Generous Giver to One in Need: Supporting Community Hero Kayden in His Toughest Battle
I first met Kayden when he owned Café Villabella in Ogden. Even then, his heart for the community shone brighter than any kitchen light. During the darkest days of COVID-19, while his own business struggled, Kayden and his team managed to donate over 10,000 school lunches to children in need. He also created the beautiful "Pay It Forward" program—a simple, powerful idea that allowed anyone in the community to buy a hot meal for someone who couldn't afford one. It's a testament to his spirit that this program continues to be embraced by other restaurants today.
But long before that, Kayden showed me what true resilience and vulnerability looked like. During his first battle with cancer, all he wanted was a simple comfort: a steak dinner from Christopher’s Prime Steakhouse. It was a privilege for me to personally coordinate the pick-up and delivery of that meal. That gesture was huge for him; he still talks about it today. He spent his healthy years pouring into our community; now, it's our turn to pour back into him.
The Toughest Fight: Stage 4 Cancer
Unfortunately, the unthinkable has happened. Kayden is now facing Stage 4 cancer. His battle has become relentless, and the treatments are focused on managing symptoms as they arise, as there is no cure for his specific type.
Now, as he undergoes yet another round of chemotherapy and prepares for upcoming surgery, he has the most precious reason to fight: his 2½-year-old child.
Kayden is an incredibly strong and prideful man. He is a giver, not a taker, and he admitted to me that he is too stubborn to ask for help—but he desperately needs it now. His greatest hope is simply that restaurants keep the Pay It Forward program alive after he's gone. We can honor that incredible spirit by supporting him today.
How Your Donation Will Help
We are asking the community to rally around this man who never hesitated to help us. Our goal is to lift the crippling financial burden so he can focus solely on his health and his child.
Your donation will immediately help with:
* Medical Expenses: Covering co-pays, specialized treatments, hospital stays, and medications that are not fully covered by insurance.
* Childcare: Ensuring his 2½-year-old is safe and cared for during his chemotherapy treatments, surgeries, and recovery periods.
* Essential Living Costs: Providing stability for rent, utilities, and groceries, relieving the stress of lost wages as he is unable to work.
Kayden gave our community thousands of meals and a lasting legacy of generosity through the Pay It Forward program. Please help us give him the peace of mind he deserves in his darkest hour. Let's show him that the kindness he poured into the world is now coming back to him.
Any amount you can give is a huge help, and please share this story with everyone you know. Thank you for making a difference in the life of a true community hero.
— Travis,
