“Jars of Love for Kathy Green – Helping a Community Hero Heal”

✍️ If you know Kathy Green, you know she’s a woman who gets things done.

On September 23, 2025, Kathy experienced a serious fall from her attic while bringing down her beloved Thanksgiving decorations. She underwent emergency surgery on September 24 to repair her hip, which is now supported by rods and pins. Her road to recovery will be long potentially four months and during this time, Kathy will be unable to work, cook, or run her small business, Kat’s Southern Twang.

Kathy has been a pillar of the Jensen Beach community since 1989, touching countless lives through her work, volunteerism, and food made with love. Not only in Jensen Beach, but also St. Lucie County.

She worked at Harper’s Pub in Downtown Jensen Beach for 15 years as the head bartender.
She founded the Haunted House at the old Jensen Beach Community Center in the 1990s revitalizing downtown, raising funds, and creating a safe, family-oriented event full of laughter and scares for local children.
She served for years as a volunteer and committee member for the Pineapple Festival, championing community spirit through the ‘90s.
She’s always been on the front lines during hurricanes and waterway issues showing up when her community needed her most.
In 2010, Kathy launched Kat’s Southern Twang, her small but mighty business filled with heart:
Homemade jams & jellies
Pickles, sauces, salsas, & specialty items
❤️ Every jar a piece of her generous spirit, “brewing up kindness and cheer wherever she can.”
You can find Kathy Green normally at The Fort Pierce Farmers Market. Kathy has been showing up at Marina Square every Saturday since 2010. Marking Kat's Southern Twang in the City of Fort Pierce for the last 15 years. Giving back love and happiness. Donating jars of love for charities, benefits and just to help feed families. Kathy also faces the battles of cancer with those in need. Mentoring those newly diagnosed with support and direction with love and kindness.

I met Kathy in 2017 during recovery efforts for Hurricane Irma in the Florida Keys. We’ve been side by side ever since. We deployed the M/V Voici Bernadette, a 185’ freighter we transformed and successfully deployed as an artificial reef. At that time, Kathy received a stage 4 ovarian cancer diagnosis… and beat it.
In 2018, she was cancer-free, aboard the Lady Chris, celebrating the reef deployment of Voici Bernadette and her victory over cancer. In 2021, during a routine visit with her oncologist, she was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Once again, Kathy faced it head-on: immediate surgery, treatment, and recovery. Today, she is cancer free, though the battle left mobility deficits on her right side.
Now, Kathy is facing another challenge—a long recovery from her fall and surgery. While her strength and spirit remain unmatched, bills don’t wait:
Rent for her business and home
Insurance
Operating costs to keep Kat’s Southern Twang alive through the holiday season. Helping bring in some income.

We’re asking the community Kathy has poured her life into to rally behind her through a campaign we’re calling:

“Jars of Love”

Every donation is like purchasing a jar of her love and generosity helping to keep her business afloat and give her peace of mind as she heals.

Your contribution will help cover her living expenses, business costs, and give Kathy the time and support she needs to heal fully and return to what she loves: serving others.

❤️ Let’s give back to someone who’s spent decades giving so much. Any amount helps, and sharing this campaign means the world.
