Joska "Abouwo" Kitara was a daughter, mother, sister, aunty, and grandma to each of us. If you knew her, you knew how dedicated, compassionate, and respected she was in multiple communities.
While traveling back from visiting her siblings, nieces, nephews, and family in Australia for their first Christmas in many years, Joska endured a stroke before landing in San Francisco.
She was in an induced coma due to the stroke, causing a hemorrhage in her brain and went under for a life-saving neurological surgery to reduce the swelling in her brain.
Joska was a beloved member of our community, a much need ray of sunshine and a pillar we've all needed and supported in our own times of need. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We appreciate you all!
As of March 15th, 2025.
Abouwo started her course in Comfort Care. At 3:00pm Pacific time zone, Abouwo maintained herself until 4:30pm. After which, she passed away peacefully and comfortably just as she desired.
Abowuo has given us all we needed and left us with all we could ask for. Please find peace knowing that each of you had offered her the best experience on this earth.
