Assistance For Tragic Accident

For 30 years, Luis Caraballo has been the backbone of the Hollywood Police Department for all our technological needs and behind the scenes keeping everything running smoothly. It does not matter if it is not in his job scope, Luis will help if he can and if not, he will direct you to where to find the answer. He is officially an IT specialist for the City of Hollywood, but has always been assigned to Police. No matter the problem or task, Luis always remains calm and does it with a smile.

On May 5th, Luis’s world was turned upside down when his oldest son, Jose (20), was involved in a horrific car accident on the Florida Turnpike near Sample Road. He was rushed to a Broward trauma center in critical condition. The outlook at the time was grim. Miraculously, Jose is still fighting at the hospital. However, the road ahead will be unimaginably difficult. He is currently unable to speak and communicates only with hand squeezes. Doctors now recommend an intensive rehabilitation program in Atlanta, Georgia, to give him the best chance at recovery. He will have to relearn everything from walking and talking. Everyday things we often take for granted.

The Caraballo family is facing a monumental financial burden. Luis takes care of his elderly parents and his three children with his wife. Between travel, medical bills and housing near the rehab center they need our help.
